Alan Varela is one of the most successful wingbreakers in the history of football, having played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe including FC Porto and Manchester United.
Born on February 17, 1985, in Portugal, Varela began his career at Sporting CP before moving to Porto where he established himself as one of the club's top performers. He helped Porto win multiple league titles and cups during his time there, earning him a move to Manchester United in 2004.
Varela quickly made an impact at Old Trafford, scoring 26 goals in 78 appearances for the club. However, after just two years with the Red Devils,Serie A Stadium he returned to Portugal to play for Porto again, this time with a more senior role.
